The new m3 Flow Control is a yet another breakthrough in plasma system design. ESAB was the first to use electronically controlled proportional valves in a plasma gas control system. Now ESAB introduces the first flow control to use Mass Flow Control (MFC) devices for the most accurate, repeatable gas flow controller in the industry. The m3 also breaks new ground with the ability to select and mix shield gases, to produce the optimum cut quality on any material.The Mass Flow Control These devices, designed for use in medical respirator systems, provide extremely accurate flow-based metering system, with closed loop internal feedback, and excellent repeatability from one unit to the next. They also feature the reliability and robustness required for medical and industrial applications. Three MFCs are packaged together with one proportional valve, several solenoid valves, pressure switches, and flow switches, in a simple and easily accessible package designed for mounting on the cutting machine. Gas Control In the past, plasma gas controls focused on adjusting the cut gas flow rate or pressure. With the introduction of secondary shield gases, those gases were typically controlled by solenoid valves or proportional valves. The m3 Flow Control introduces the ability to automatically select one or two different shield gases, and to accurately mix those gases in exactly the correct proportion for the optimum cut quality. Competitive manual systems use a fixed gas ratio for shield gas, attempting to use a “one size fits all” solution. By contrast, m3 plasma uses the best possible proportion of each shield gas in order to deliver the best cut quality. And since m3 plasma is controlled automatically by the Vision CNC, all the worries of gas selection and setup are eliminated.
