The PT-36 mechanized cutting torch uses advanced “dry cutting” technology and precision machined components to provide precision cut quality, long consumable life, and fast cutting speeds. The high precision construction provides the performance needed for accurate straight or bevel cutting while minimizing costs and downtime.
Other features include:
- Superior cutting speed means lower costs due to higher throughput on your cutting system.
- The ability to cut faster on any thickness, at lower current, leads to further savings in electricity costs.
- The high precision features mean longer consumable life, better cut quality, and higher cutting speeds.
- Precision, production, and sever cutting conditions mean more flexibility to achieve the results you need.
- Available “SpeedLoader” aids in consumable changes without the worries and leaks caused by O-rings, or the expense of spare torch bodies.
- Patented Posi-Thread design makes it easier to install consumables, and eliminates the worry of damaged threads on electrode, electrode holder, and torch body.
- Does not require expensive water chiller for cooling water, which reduces power and maintenance costs.
- Cut above or under water with an Air Curtain or Bubble Muffler.

ESAB has set a new industry standard in torch design. Instead of rating a nozzle at a fixed cutting current level, and then adjusting other parameters to achieve the desired cutting result, ESAB starts with the desired result and then determines the best parameter settings, including current, needed to achieve it. Thus, the same nozzle may be used at several different current settings, or for more than one cutting process. This design allows ESAB to achieve superior cutting and marking results over a wide range of materials and thicknesses with fewer consumable parts. The rugged, reliable, new PT-36 torch replaces up to three single-purpose torches (heavy plate cutting, precision cutting and marking). The end result: superior cutting functionality and productivity over a wide range of materials and thicknesses, with minimal set up time, downtime and consumable cost. No other system offers the reliability, economy and productivity of the m3 plasma system.

The PT-36 requires fewer parts to purchase and stock. It uses fewer than 30 different consumable parts to cover its full cutting range up to 6.25” stainless steel. Other systems require as many as 66 different parts, and don’t even cover the same range of materials.
With only 2 baffles, 2 electrodes, 8 nozzles, 2 diffusers, and 3 shields, you can cut from 1/8 up to 1 inch thick carbon, stainless, or aluminum.
Fewer parts means easier purchasing, easier stock maintenance, less inventory, and easier operation.
