Air Curtain
For those customers needing to straight or bevel cut under water, the PT-36 torch may be equipped with an Air Curtain. This device clamps to the torch and uses compressed air to create an air pocket below the water in which the plasma arc can cut. The Air Curtain can be used with Oxygen plasma on Carbon Steel and with Nitrogen Plasma on Stainless Steel up to 1” thick. Cutting aluminum under water is not recommended. The Air Curtain can be used while beveling, up to about 35 degrees. Air-Water Muffler 
An additional option is the Air-Water Muffler. This system can be used above or below water, over a water table. The Air-Water Muffler uses a traditional water muffler pump to re-circulate water from the cutting table through a torch mounted muffler, creating a shroud of water around the cutting arc. Inside of that water shroud, an air pocket is created by introducing compressed air into an additional nozzle internal to the muffler assembly. The result is a water shroud that does not interfere with the cutting arc. This system reduces arc glare and noise, and absorbs a significant amount of plasma fume. The bubble muffler option is not available in all countries or on all models of cutting machine. Contact your Cutting Machine sales representative for information on availability.
